Artography

I very much enjoyed attending the Hinckley Carnival Queen Competion at Hinckley United last night and grabbing a few photographs whilst enjoying the evening with my hubby.  In previous years the competition has been held at local night clubs, but this year Kev Whelan from Bar Vis-A-Vis, Hinckley (check out their facebook page here) decided to pull out all the stops to make it a more glamorous occasion –  a black tie dinner, catwalk show and of course live music.  It really was a great evening with lots of local businesses taking tables for the evening.  The event raised almost £3,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis trust and Hinckley Carnival fund.  The Carnival takes place on Sunday 6th June.  For more information check out the website.

The event was sponsored by The Holiday Lounge Hinckley,who donated a weeks holiday to Cyprus for both the Carnival Queen and as a main prize for the Raffle.  The new Carnival Queen for 2010 pictured below will also have a photo shoot with Artography worth over £200.00.  Flowers were kindly donated by Yana at Tulips Creative Flower Shop Regent Street, Hinckley.

Party photo shoots are one of my most favourite photography sessions.  Energetic and fun…  How can you possibly go wrong with a group of children who just want to be photographed?   This group of girls came to the studio recently and I had a great time photographing  each and every one of them.    They had lots of ideas for poses during the shoot.  If you are looking for something different to do for your child’s birthday party please give me a call.  Packages start at £125.00 for up to 8 in a group.  This package  includes the shoot, a group photograph for all that attend, a larger print and a poster for the party host and a viewing for all the guests and parents to come back and see the final set of images.  My contact details are 01455 233224.  You can view more party images at www.portraitsbyartography.co.uk.  Another 2 party photo shoots next week!  I think I will have a lie down until then…

Another fun, emotional and romantic wedding.  I really do love my job!   I recently photographed Shelley & Lee at St Edith’s church in Monks Kirby.   Unfortunately I was not allowed to take any photographs in the church during the ceremony but I had a lot of time with the couple at Ansty Hall.  Thankfully the weather was also very kind to us too.   I had taken some photographs of Shelley and Lee at Antsy Hall for their pre wedding shoot and Lee is very, very fond of having his photograph taken- very unusual for a guy to be so relaxed in front of the camera.  In fact, Lee would have been in every shot on his wedding day if he could.   Shelley and Lee’s family and friends made me so welcome and I had such great fun creating some of these images.  The bridesmaids Carly and Amy were also keen to be photographed as much as possible too – they worked me hard!   Mr & Mrs Nunn – best wishes to you both for a long and happy marriage together.  It was very obvious you are ’soul mates’. 

I received an email from Trudy and Martyn today with a testimonial, following their wedding day photography at Coombe Abbey in April…  It really did make made my day!

She has an informal approach so after our ‘traditional’ poses we just ‘let her loose’ with the camera.  We were not disappointed. The lovely Geoff  Waters from ‘The Best of Hinckley’  came over to the studio for some head shots to use on his website, blog, twitter etc.  I have had a listing with ‘The Best of Hinckley’ for a number of years now and Geoff is a real ‘champion’ of local businesses in the area.  It is through Geoff that I have had a number of clients book for photo shoots and also became involved in the ‘Hinckly Business Awards’ in 2009, photographing  the finalists  and the actual event at The Sketchley Grange Hotel in Burbage.   

I really do value the link that Artography has with this fantastic website ‘The Best of Hinckley’.    Not only does Geoff actively promote businesses through ‘The Best of Hinckley’ website, he also works hard raising the profile of these  small, local businesses via his Twitter pages, Facebook and various networking meetings he attends in the Leicestershire area.   I am a big fan of Geoff and would recommend him to anyonelooking for ways to promote their business.

Many business professionals and businesses use headshots for their annual reports, advertising, company publications or websites, press releases etc.   Head shots are really important in the business world  and a lot of corporate employers are now asking their potential employees to provide a headshot when applying for a job.

The photo shoot took approx. 10-15 minutes and there are around 10-12 final images for Geoff to choose from for his business.
