In a number of my packages I include an Engagement photo shoot at your chosen wedding day venue. This is a fantastic opportunity to get together and discuss your wedding planning in more detail, have a coffee and get to know each other a little better. It’s great to go for a little walk around the venue and grounds and at the same time take some informal photographs. This is also an opportunity for the couples to see how I like to photograph and how it really can be fun and not a scary experience at all. It really is an ‘ice breaker’ and I won’t feel like a total stranger when turning up on the wedding day… great for the couples, and great for me! Although my photography is definitely more ‘reportage’ style there will nearly always be the need to take photographs of the couple on their own and of course the formal group shots of family and close friends.. A few shots from post wedding shoots below taken at Coombe Abbey in Coventry, Shearsby Bath and Bosworth Hall
. This engagement shoot, includes either 2 x 10×8 images or digital files.
Becky and Alexis were very keen to have totally informal photography at their recent wedding at Hartington Hall in Derbyshire. In fact it was their very first request when I first met them to discuss their photography requirements. And their wedding day was very informal too. It really was like being at a family party. The majority of the guests stayed at Hartington Hall all weekend, with the immediate family travelling from Wales and London… I did manage to sneak in a few portrait shots of them together but actually the best shots of the day were definitely the ‘reportage’ images. The ceremony was conducted outside in the gardens of Hartington Hall. It really was lovely to be outside, although perhaps a bit cold!!! Thankfully the fires were lit inside and it certainly was intimate and cosy.
Becky and Alexis are both Archaeologists, but I promise you there were no jokes about fossils or bones during the speeches!!! This was such a laid back, fun wedding which I enjoyed so much.
Thanks to the Becky and Alexis and their family and friends for making me feel so welcome.

I had great pleasure photographing the wedding of Frank and Jill at Leicester Town Hall on Monday 15th February. A totally adorable couple. I really did have a tear in my eye during the wedding vows. Frank and Jill told their friends and family that they were planning to marry, but decided they would prefer to do it quiety with little fuss. They were off home to make some phone calls after the ceremony. I really wish I could have heard the responses from their nearest and dearest when they heard the news…
They are now away for a few days and have a honeymoon planned for later in the year. I really do wish them a long and happy life together.

Just a few favourite studio shots – I really love black and white images. To me, they really do stand the test of time. If you would like to book a studio sitting please contact me on 01455 233224 to book a session.

I have a number of pre wedding shoots coming up for my 2010 wedding couples, which I am very much looking forward to. The first of these is this Saturday at Shearsby Bath http://www.shearsbybath.co.uk/. I have not photographed a wedding at this venue before so it will be a first for me and I am very much looking forward to it. This will be closely followed by my first wedding at Hartington Hall in the Peak District. I recently met up with Becky and Alexis at Hartington and I was so glad that the snow had cleared. Hartington really is in the middle of nowhere, tucked away at the top of a hill. Believe me, nobody would have made it to the wedding if it had been a couple of weeks ago.
The pre wedding shoot is something I offer in my album packages whereby I meet with the couples at their chosen venue before their wedding day, to take some informal photographs and have a bit of fun. I find that this photo shoot is a fantastic way of getting to know each couple better, giving them an insight as to how I work and it helps immensely in getting the ‘bride and groom to be’ to relax a little in front of the camera. And the best bit… they get some engagement photographs too. It is also a chance for me to discuss their full itinerary for the day and all of the finer details. Why would I want to be a stranger to the bride and groom on the most important day of their lives?
If you haven’t seen the fantastic Puss in Boots at the Concordia Theatre http://www.concordiatheatre.co.uk/ in Hinckley – get tickets asap. The show runs right through to 6th Feb and is a really fantastic family pantomime. My children have already been with their grandma and absolutely loved it, and I had the pleasure of photographing the dress rehearsal. Below are a selection of my favourite images. As part of my link up with the theatre, there will be some prints on display in the Spotlight Bar at the theatre, along with some other shots I took at other dress rehearsals in 2009 (The Full Monty, Annie Get Your Gun and the Rochelle Show). I will also be attending the upcoming dress rehearsals for ‘Working’, ‘Fawlty Towers’ and ‘Pirates of Penzance’).

I exhibited at the Sketchley Grange http://www.sketchley-grange.co.uk/ Wedding Fair last weekend (Sunday 24th January) which is one of the best wedding fairs in this area and very well attended. There were over 200 brides attending the event, all at varioius stages of their wedding planning and a lot whose dates are planned for 2011.
There were over 40 vendors, including wedding cars, florists, jewellery, gowns, entertainment etc – alogside 2 catwalk fashion shows. Their next fair is in September. It is great to network with other wedding vendors and get some inspiration too and I would certainly recommend the following suppliers who I thought offered fantastic products / services:-
For beautiful designer wedding stationery I would highly recommend Destiny Cards, based in Nuneaton. The wedding stationery is really beautiful, classic and innovative. http://www.destinycards.co.uk/
Another lovely vendor – Handmade by Hannah http://www.handmadebyhannah.com/. Really lovely wedding cakes, individually designed. Take a look at her wedding cake gallery.
How about a magician at your wedding or family celebration? Take a look at the website of Chris Priest – British champion of close up magic. http://www.chrispriest.com/
I have not bee updating the blog as regularly I should recently, but have promised myself that I will take the time to do this in 2010… Further blogs to follow.
The Concordia Theatre http://www.concordiatheatre.co.uk/ Proudly Present Concordia AOS – ANNIE GET YOUR GUN. If you haven’t booked your tickets already – get them now! I had the pleasure of photographing the dress rehearsal for this fantastic show and I enjoyed every minute. I was so inspired by the talent of the cast both young and old. It really is a show that all the family will enjoy.
A few of my favourite shots below.

I recently had a few days away with my mad dog and kids. Just the tonic to blow the cobwebs away… It’s been a while since I took my camera out purely for pleasure but it was such a beautiful day that I just had to get a few shots. We visited Formby, near Southport and stayed in my aunt’s caravan, in amongst the pine woods and just a few hundred yards from the beach. Bliss… a great tonic and just what’s needed from time to time to really switch off. A few images below.
