If You Are Planning Your Wedding Day You Need To Read This…

You might want to read this fascinating article on a website called ‘Every Last Detail’.  In a nutshell,  it is a post from a bride who took the ‘cheap’ photographer route and has regretted it ever since.  Thanks to Paul Davis, a London photographer for sharing this article via his fan page on facebook.

This really is a worthwhile read and only re-iterates what I say to couples when I meet them to discuss their photography requirements for their wedding day. You really do get what you pay for.  Often couples have never booked a photographer before  and have no clue at all when it comes to selecting somebody to record one of the most important days of their lives.  In some cases couples will have a friend or family member to take photographs on their wedding day just because they own an SLR camera.  The results can be just a set of  snap shots that don’t fully tell the story of the wedding day.  Believe me, I have talked to many couples who regret not carefully choosing their photographer because they booked purely on price and not quality.

My advice would be that if you want photography on your wedding day that you will treasure for years to come, then please ensure you invest wisely.   For me, being a professional photographer I get to share such an amazing, special day with the wedding couple, their family and their closest friends.    But my relationship is built over time from the very first meeting to discuss their wedding plans, right through to handing over their finished album.  It is so important to book a photographer that you trust, who inspires you and who you can get along with.   I always ensure that I see the bride and groom at least 2-3 times before their wedding.  My album packages also  include an engagement / ‘getting to know you’  photo shoot at the  chosen venue.  This is a great chance for the couple to see how I work, to talk through the wedding day in more detail and for me it helps to really get to know both the bride and groom better, and of course get some inspiration for my photography at the chosen venue.  Why would I want to turn up on the wedding day and feel like a total stranger after meeting them only once to take their booking?  Often I will be photographing a bride at the preparation stages of the wedding day and being a female photographer  this is an advantage when it comes to such an intimate part of the whole day.

I also offer a no obligation meeting to discuss your wedding and to go through all of my packages, products etc and  I also  fully understand that no two weddings are the same, so I often to tailor the wedding packages to suit the couple.

Remember, once your wedding day is over your  beautiful wedding dress and shoes will be put away in your wardrobe  and your wedding photographs will be the only truly lasting record of your day.  Invest Wisely…
